What NLP is + why it’s used by the world’s top coaches

How to get help for your mental health.

What is NLP?

NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) is essentially a toolbox filled with practical strategies to understand:

·      How your mind works

·      How to use this knowledge to communicate better with yourself and others

·      How to reshape neural pathways and unconscious programs

NLP was developed in the 1970s by a group who studied the most successful therapists of the time and figured out what was working. They then formulated this knowledge into a set of presuppositions, tools and techniques that would empower people to understand the mind and effectively change thoughts, emotions and behaviours. It’s since been used by many of the world’s top coaches, business people and athletes to achieve success.

Why coaches use NLP

Coaches use NLP as a session framework and set of tools for facilitating personal growth and achievement in clients.

As a coach, I use NLP techniques to help clients identify and overcome limiting beliefs, rewire unhelpful thought patterns, and develop more effective communication strategies and behaviours. An example of how I might do this is by leading them through guided visualisations or meditations that explore and rewire the specific thoughts, beliefs, memories and emotions that prevent them from having what they desire.

What I love about NLP techniques is that they encompass the body, mind and spirituality, leaving nothing out. NLP is a truly holistic modality that does no harm and can create profound change in people’s lives.
